Orgy of millinery

Would be a great name for a band. As would Orgy of Windmills, which is also appropriate to this post. I think I prefer Orgy of Millinery, simply for the pun value ("Hat's all folks, as Orgy of Millinery split citing 'musical differences'"). But I digress. I've had a productive weekend. I am, to be honest, in a bit of a creative rut re garments, so I thought I'd clear out some ideas from my idea book and make the fascinators/headbands I'd been meaning to make. I've had fun making them and I feel refreshed for having done it. There are quite a few so the quickest way to show you is to link to the shop.

There's a couple of hair barrettes as well, which were fun to make.
I love making garments above all things, which is why until now there haven't been many accessories in the shop. But I did start out sewing with millinery. I had messed about with the sewing machine before but when I was 15, my mum and I lied about my age so I could go with her to a millinery class at an adult learning centre in Castleford. It set me on the right track as two years later I was making an 18th century dress complete with period underwear for my A level theatre studies project (modelled by the long suffering Shaman, who had no idea that she would still be stuck with me 14 years later!).
It's wedding season, so I'm hoping the headwear will finish off some outfits and get to go to some parties. As with all my stuff I'm happy to take commissions if you want something a bit different.
