I rarely mention buying yarn on the blog, but don't let that fool you in to thinking I rarely buy yarn! I'm not too bad, and my stash is mostly sock yarn which at least I know is going to get used. Socks are a great way of trying out new colours and patterns without having committed too much if it turns out a bit lurid (see my Jaywalker socks for an example of when things get a bit lurid)!
Anyway, new colours is what brings me on to Knitivity. Ray (Mr Knitivity himself) has got a wide range of colourways inspired by everything from a stormy sky to the Miami Dolphins! And if there's something in particular that inspires you you can send Ray a picture and he will do you a custom dye job. He sells patterns as well, and has a blog where you can read about his creations and snag blog reader specials.
The whole publicity thing is immensely difficult for a small business so I'm more than happy to give him a shout out. And yes I did buy some sock yarn - a skein each of "sensatorium" and "storm's a-brewing".
